HISTORY Often called the miracle plant, the natural healer or the burn plant, many people have become familiar with Aloe Vera recently. In fact, it has been around for thousands of years, many ancient civilizations recognising its enormous health benefits.
Legend has it that the Egyptian queens Nefertiti and Cleopatra are said to have rated it highly as beauty therapy.
Aloe Vera is a succulent plant that flourishes in warm and dry climates. it looks rather like a cactus, but is in fact a member of the of the Lily family, related to Onion, Garlic and Asparagus.
USES Although there are over 200 species of Aloe, the most nutritionally potent is the Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller – the only variety that we cultivate and use in our products.
It takes approximately four years to reach maturity upon which the content of its leaves, a mixture of inner gel and sap, can be harvested, preserved and bottled as a nutritional drink or combined with other ingredients to produce topical creams and lotions to nourish and improve the skin. |
